June/July Winners' Announcement

THANKS to everyone who entered the June/July Challenge - Sport & Selfies. We enjoyed looking at the variety of entries and are pleased to announce the winners for this month.

I love the background paper as it matches the fountain, and the title letters are meant to look like the water from the fountain. I tried to embellish around my daughters so the eye was directed them, not the strangers in the background of the photo."

Melissa - Kaisercraft Pitter Patter & Be-YOU-tiful Layouts

Good morning! Its Melissa here today with two layouts from two new Kaisercraft Collections.  My first layout is made with the Pitter Patter Collection, a baby line with vintage imagery and soft pinks and blues.  Of course I had to put my hand up for this line with our beautiful baby girl!

This line was crying out for mixed media, so I used modelling paste mixed with white acrylic paint and a Heidi Swapp Mask, then I mixed two mists to get a pale pink and applied it with a plastic bag, and my final media was black India ink.  I painted the raw "Adore"chipboard with two coats of white paint.  The background paper is called "Peek-a-boo" and I used the B side, which looks exactly as it does (sheet music on one side, and newspaper print on the other).  

The sweet photo is of my son holding our newborn baby's hand in hospital when he first met her at 2 days old.  I was so pleased to capture such a sweet candid moment.  I layered several of the 6 x 6 papers and some vellum, all hand cut and distressed with my scissors.  I kept the embellishment to a minimum on this page.

My second page was made with the Be-YOU-tiful collection which is described in the shop as "bringing two of our favourite things together, bright colours and enchanting florals."  You can purchase it here. I chose to scrapbook my final pregnancy photo which my husband took of me in the hospital at 7am, some 50 minutes before we met our baby girl.  Brielle is 15 weeks old now, its amazing how fast time passes once the baby is born, and how you forget being big and pregnant!

For this layout I focussed on white acrylic paint, stamping and machine stitching.

Kaisercraft always produces such awesome die cut collectables that assist in getting the story recorded!

Valou - Home decoration with "Kaisercraft", "Pitter Patter"

Hello everybody! 

Valou here with a new Card! 

I chose of realized a frame as my daughter, Katlynn. I used a frame in special shape " ScrapIdées " and the collection " Kaisercraft ", "Pitter Patter". Edges are used with "Old Distresser" and inked to the ink "Distress Walnut Stain". Any goshawk, I stuck of the white lace of Calais.

I used a rubberstamp "Magnolia Ink".

I colorized it in the following way: 

- Ink "Distress Tattered Rose" and "Distress Vintage Photo" for the skin.

- Ink "Distress Antique Linen" and "Distress Walnut Stain" for hair.

- Ink "Distress Worm Lipstick".

- Ink "Distress Faded Jeans".

- Ink "Distress Bundled Sage".

- Ink "Distress Spun Sugar".

- Glitter Stickels Diamond.

The title is a chipboard. I covered it at first with "Gesso" then with pink paint. Then, I added a big layer of "Crackles".

In the corner top-left of the photo, I stuck a knot realized with a wide ribbon cremate. Then, I added the following flowers:

- Big white flower (50 mm).

- Big white rose with the pale pink heart (30 mm).

- Big white rose with the dark pink heart (30 mm).

- Blue flowers of cherry tree.

- Rosebuds whites.

They are covered with some touches of "Glitter Stickels Icicle".

I added a die-cut realized with a dies "Marianne Designs".

Leaves are die-cuts realized with a dies "Lily Of The Valley".

To finish, here and there, I added die-cuts "Butterflies" of two different sizes realized with dies two " Joy! Craft ". On their body, I stuck half a pink pearly pearl.

Betsy - Kaisercraft's Bow & Arrow Cards.

Betsy here this morning to share another of Kaisercraft's July collection, Bow and Arrow, which I have made into three cards. Another " must have " of their lovely ranges. They have some very talented designers over there, it is hard to choose which one I like the most. One has to just get the LOT!!

To cut the base card, I have used my Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Circle die for both ends, then the Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Squares. Some feathers and a Prima flower complete this card. This shaped card is always a winner!

I have made a partial swing card for this one. Spellbinders Labels 16 was used to cut out the frame - the collectables always make a card so much easier to put together.

My favourite 5 1/4" square card. Tim Holtz's bird cage die coloured with my Kaiserfusion alcohol pens. Again I have used feathers and Prima flowers, with a number of the collectables. There are feathers on the papers, so I thought they were very appropriate. This lovely collection is available now, at Artfull Crafts and I know you will have fun using it, as it's very versatile.

Michelle - Kaiser Be-YOU-tiful

The elegance of this collection is fabulous ... the range of delicious colours, patterns and embossed papers are gorgeous! They were just perfect to use to record my recent special birthday party - a High Tea at Larnach Castle.

This layout has layering of papers from the 6.5x6.5 pad, with scalloped borders also from this pad and a couple of collectables. I fussy cut the flowers (to the right of the photo) from papers in the pad.

And a close up so you can see the delicious papers ...

I printed some smaller photos of my birthday celebration and created these 4 mini layouts using papers from the 6.5x6.5 pad. Each layout is different but all the papers/patterns/colours complement each other perfectly to help create the story of the day.

Michelle - Kaiser Bow & Arrow

Love love love this latest collection from Kaiser! The subtle colours and fabulous patterns make these papers so easy to play with!

This layout was created using a strip of the Chevron die-cut paper, and papers from the 6.5x6.5 pad. Added to that is a title cut on my silhouette, and a couple of the collectables.

Aren't those collectables so cute! Just perfect for adding a little something extra to a layout.

This is the Silhouette cut title - a freebie from Heidi Swapp. Have you seen that Artfull Crafts now stock Silhouette Cameo machines? This is the first electronic cutting machine I have invested in and I have to say I'm having a lot of fun cutting cute titles and shapes for my layouts (not to mention bits for the kids school projects too!).

Lisa - Be-YOU-tiful layouts

Hello hello! Lisa here once again, with another couple of layouts to show you. This time, I used another of the July releases from Kaisercraft: the gorgeous BeYOUtiful range. These papers feature lovely bright colours, shabby chic textures and lush florals, and are just fabulous to work with.

My first layout uses black cardstock as a base, and features a selfie. I really loved the wording on the left- "let your faith be bigger than your fear"-- because I had to have minor surgery recently, and this was a timely reminder to myself that if I took a deep breath and put my big girl pants on, everything would be fine. (and it was. :D) I paired the words (cut from the Delightful sheet) with a selection of patterns from some other papers in the range, picking colours that roughly matched the floral element. I tore the edges a little to add a bit of contrast to the straight edges of the photo. A couple of Collectables, some flowers, a touch of bling and gold ribbon, and it was done.

The second layout uses kraft cardstock as a base, and features another of the floral designs from the range on the right - the Captivating sheet, which is gorgeous. I used a favourite black and white shot of my daughter, and again, paired it with some of the other patterned papers, torn edges providing a nice contrast. Including a few hand-torn strips in various patterns on a layout are a great way of adding variety without any particular pattern being too dominant, I think.

Along the bottom of the page, I went a little embellishment-crazy-- because, why not? :D It's a fun way of using up bits and pieces you might have left over from other projects, and even if all of the elements are from various ranges and/or manufacturers, if you stick to a loose theme/colour scheme, everything usually fits together pretty nicely. Just play around adding and removing/repositioning things until you're happy with how it looks. Sometimes I'll leave everything sitting in place overnight and then look at it with fresh eyes again the next day, just to see if I'm still happy with the composition before I finally stick it all down. Nine times out of ten it works out for the best, and if not, well, chalk it up to experience! :)
