Geezzz this was a hard one and I had to really put my thinking cap on!!!
I came up with these cute peg little note holders....very basic!
just a wooden peg, covered with a strip of scrap paper, some mini alpha's
& embellies and a magnetic strip on the back...so you can put them on the fridge!




Bookmarks.......
the other night while reading in bed, I noticed my bookmark (which is a supermarket docket!!)  mmmm I thought ...I could make some out of scraps...so thats what I did, again very simple, I just put an eyelet in the end and some ribbon/lace/leather...you could really personalize these and give them with a book as a gift, my friend who is a book worm will be getting one for christmas!! I'm sure she'll love it!

I have a few different ideas for the Stocking Stuffers and Scraps theme! I made heaps of kids party bag ideas this week BUT I have decided to keep them for a theme later in the countdown.

Stocking Stuffer - Music CD

OK - so who doesn't love Christmas Carols!!  One of my fave Christmas Collections (and fave collections of all time in fact) has been Kaisercrafts' "Christmas Carnival".  I understand they are not producing any more 12x12 papers, but I had heaps of embellishments left as well as the 6x6 pad, so I decided to make Liz a CD!


I have decorated a plain tin to put the CD into - I have mostly used pieces from the Christmas Carnival Collection along with some ribbon and rhinestones Liz sent in my DT bits and pieces. The star is from a old Thickers pack and I have stamped music onto using Stayzon Ink and the Kaiser Music Stamp. I had  been hoarding the musical note cuttlebug die for so long - I was thrilled to find a use for it!


This picture above show the CD tin open. I have printed a playlist for the inside cover and I made a folded paper holder for the CD


I also just a got a new printer which prints directly onto CD's so I was desperate to give that a whirl too. I was a bit naughty and just copied and pasted an image of the Kaiser paper from the internet for the CD and I used the Artfull Crafts font for the title.


There are some wonderful carols on the CD - I hope Liz enjoys them!


Scraps - Mini Christmas Keepsakes Album

This is a really simple album I put together. I have used plain cardstock for the pages and used my paper scraps to make a mat for some mini photos.  What I really love about this is the cover!





I took some plain red cardstock and run it through my cuttlebug with the Snowflakes embossing folder. I then inked over the raised part with some white ink before sealing with 2 layers of glossy mod-podge.  It's a really neat effect and somehow the combination of all three effects make it looks like embossed leather!



Scraps - Make your own Chipboard Buttons

OK- the awesome thing about making these is that you only need a 1" square piece of paper, and some cardboard (I use cereal boxes!!) Also - if you have kids that think playing with your craft punches without getting told off is cool - you will hardly have to do anything!


First I covered my paper scrap with glossy mod podge, then when it was dry I used my 1" circle punch to punch several layers of cardboard and one patterned paper circle and glued them all together.  It's not rocket science but it's a nice way to get a cheap embellishment from a piece of paper you might have otherwise thrown away. Of course you could make these any size and shape as long as you have a punch or die to get them exactly the same size and shape.

I have used the buttons here to decorate a couple of goodie bags.


I bought the bags from the $2 shop, removed the ties/ribbon and used my co-ordinating ribbon scraps to replace the ties.  Here I have used paper and ribbon from the Imaginisce Cottage Christmas and Kaisercrafts Lush collection

As a mother to two girls (10 and 15years), it can get expensive buying girly things for their hair.  My daughter wanted to buy a hair clip for $4.95 during last weeks shopping.  Instead, I  bough a 10-pack of clips for a dollar less and made my own using some material scraps and a bit of bling from my stash.

I cut the fabric and held it over a tealight candle to seal the edges with the heat (do this near your sink, just in case).  This works best on synthetic materials, and all react differently.  You can get some cool ruffled effects if you experiment.  The trusty hot glue gun stuck it all together, but you could easily sew it onto the clip.




I also grabbed some combs



...and some headbands.   My girls are fighting over the white one, so I will have to reproduce that to avoid dramas on Christmas morning



If  you use pinking shears, it will stop your fabric from fraying, otherwise you could use some Stickles or Kindyglitz around the edges.


 I also made a cute vintage pincushion using ribbons and laces from my stash, and a bit of calico that I had.  It honestly took about three minutes in total to make, and would be a lovely gift for someone who sews. 

Hi everyone. We're back from the camping weekend and I'm feeling refreshed (after a 2 hour sleep this afternoon!)

I had a great idea for a homemade gift - a Kaisercraft flourish calendar. Here's how it looks now...

It's what we call a UFO. In fact it hasn't even come out of the packaging. But luckily for you Shirl did a calendar project for you yesterday.






This week's theme is Stocking Stuffers and Scraps. It should be a bit of fun to see what everyone comes up with. You can create anything with your scraps (and we all have plenty of those!), or create a stocking stuffer - something your little ones might like to find in their stocking on Christmas morning...

The prize pack this week will be the new Bo Bunny papers that haven't even been loaded online yet (they'll be there by Tuesday). You'll get the paper set along with some embellies. Simply send us a picture of the week's theme by Sunday 6pm and you'll go in the draw to win the prize

 there's been some great ideas this week for homemade gifts!
this is my spin on the theme.....
 A gift that just keeps on giving everyday of the year!!

A Calender, very easy and very inexpensive! I just bought the Calender for $2 at a the regect shop or any cheap shop should have them.
Although this will be a Christmas gift for my mum in- law I decided not to do it in Christams theme, as it will be hanging on her wall for a whole year!



I'm even going to make one for myself!!

Hi everyone. It's Betsy's turn to blog -and I am her secretary! In fact, I am in Geraldine at a camping ground. We're camping with 8 other families and have just had a wonderful evening of marshmallows, fun, laughter and a few wild games of cards! So it's late - but I did promise to have the post done today...

Betsy has two projects to share - the Tissue box cover and a treat box.



The Tissue box cover has been made with a thick piece of cardstock covered with Tis the Season papers. The embellishments on the side are a mixture of Graphic 45 tags and randoms from Betsy's box of goodies!


Treat Box
Betsy tells me she stole the Treat Box template from Splitcasters - but she paid for the lollies!! It's easy to make up and looks really effective. I know you all want to buy the 6x6 Tis the Season pad she used to make this project - but Kaisercraft have SOLD OUT and won't be making any more...

On that note we'll share the cards that she originally made for the November Card Temptations kit with this same pad - but we had to change it to Candy Lane (available next week). But the goods news is, if you already have the 6x6 pad and are a subscriber to the Card Temptations Kit, then get in contact with us as we've made up the add-on pack so you can still make the cards :-)
