This and That Graceful Layout
This and That Graceful Card
Linda's answers our questions!
How were you introduced to scrapbooking?
I have always loved pretty paper. Even before I was officially a scrapbooker I kept illustrated journals with photos and clippings. One of my favorite jobs was when I worked in the Product Development department of a greeting card company which really got my paper crafting hobby started. Still, it took me until I was expecting my youngest child to pick up a copy of Creating Keepsakes and officially become a scrapbooker. I finished Aileen’s first year album before she was even born, and have been happily scrapping ever since. (Aileen will be 10 years old in a couple months!)
What inspires you for layouts, projects, cards?
I am all about color, and am inspired by the great designs and themes which Echo Park Paper has become famous for. The monthly collection releases means that there is always a new collection to inspire me. I have a very active family, and I am constantly inspired by their activities to create my pages.
Memo holder using "For the Record" |
I enjoy working on home décor projects, and love upcycling thrift store finds to create one of a kind works of art.
What scrapbooking tools/products can you not do without?
I can’t scrap without my Fiskars rotary trimmer, my collection of border punches and my trusty corner rounder.
What is your current favorite technique or embellishment?
Lately I have been doing a lot of machine stitching on my layouts and cards.
Desk Organizer using "Happy Days" (Note from Lowri - I LOVE THIS!!) |
I love stamps, and have a huge bin full of them. But I will admit that I am more of a stamp “collector” than a “stamper”, so my goal this year is to put that stash to work in my layouts and cards.
What advice can you give to people just beginning to enjoy scrapbooking?
There is absolutely no wrong way to scrap! You don’t need a lot of supplies to get started – just a favorite photo, a story and some pretty paper and off you go.
What is your favorite Echo Park Collection to date?
I think that my favorite collection is always the one that I am working with at the moment! J But I have a particular soft spot for “For the Record” – something about the colors and motifs of that collection are particularly appealing to me.
Layout using "Summer Days" |
