SUNDAY SCRAPPING
Guest Designer - Jeannie Richey De Gruccio

Jeannie is a busy mum to 7 children who lives in California. She is on the Design Teams for Cheery Lynn Designs, Paper Issues and this month is Guest Designing at TallyScraps - a fun US based scrapping site.

What inspires you for layouts, projects, cards?
For me, inspiration is everywhere. Honestly the best inspiration to me is paper. I can almost see a project forming in my mind, just based off the paper I choose to use.

What other project types do you like to work on besides scrapbook pages?
Cards! Hands down, cards! Why? They are small, fun, a tiny scrapbook canvas. There is really no way to go wrong with a card, and at some point I know I will need it to give to someone.

What is your favourite scrapbook brand and why?
Brand? ONE? That is funny! I would have to say any that are bright, colorful and whimsical. Lately October Afternoon has been a big favorite. But, I just got an order from Crate Paper and I a having a BLAST with all the things I got. So, for this week, I will say Crate Paper, but I am a long time lover of October Afternoon, Echo Park and any that have fun colorful prints. Oh, and POLKA DOTS are a must for me.

What scrapbooking tools/products can you not do without?
Lately I would say my dies, my Sizzix and my hand held punches. The loves of my life are my Cheery Lynn Designs Doily, Butterfly and Veggie Tale dies.

What is your current favorite technique or embellishment?
Flowers! Hand made flowers. Flowers I make from simple punches and alter them with a paper stretching technique that I love doing.

What do you hope to try or improve on this year?
My craft room. I want to feel like I have it in me to be more organized and not some crazy craft recluse that is scared to death to have anyone step in my front door. I really do need to get more organized.
What advice can you give to people just beginning to enjoy scrapbooking?
I have much advice. First I would say, start slow. Give yourself time. Start with your most current pics, scrap them first, they are the freshest to your memory. Do not feel that you have to scrap every single picture you have ever taken. Be choosy, scrap your favorites and store the rest. I would also tell them to buy a paper pack and stick to it. Use it for the whole scrapbook, everything will match and you will not feel the need to buy every piece of paper in the world right off.

Do you have a blog?
Yes, I do have a blog...the address is:

  3. Jeanie I swear I'm the crazy scrap recluse!!! That made me LAUGH! Our apartment is small so I scrap on the kitchen table which is 2 by 2- right now it's literaly piled 2 feet deep with stuff and it's the very first thing you see when you walk into the apartment. :) I always love your cards- the color, the texture, the technique- I'm learning a lot!
