I have a couple of layouts to share today: one made with a Kaisercraft range from August, and one using a new Simple Stories range called We Are Family. First up: A Touch of Gold. This range is designed for use in making invitations, cards and even Christmas projects, but I wanted to see if I could use it to make an ordinary, everyday layout. (Albeit a glittery, sparkly one!) I started with a base of grey cardstock, and layered three of the papers on top (Flashy, with the tiny gold foil stars, Sheen and some of the plain gold foil sheet) and I tore the edges of each of them to add a little texture and contrast. I decided to use a black & white photo so as to avoid any colour clashing, and layered that on top. To finish, I added a couple of the Collectables, some gold sequins, some indian ink splatters, and some gold washi tape.
Quick and easy, and I really love the colour combo. A close up shot is below:
My second layout is made with the lovely We Are Family range from Simple Stories. The papers are so versatile, featuring muted colours, soft florals and little touches of woodgrain. I used a panel from this sheet as my base, on top of some darl cream cardstock. I used a craft knife to cut along the edges of the silver bulldog clip design at the top of the panel so I could slip my photo underneath - to give the impression of it being clipped in place. Around the photo, I layered a selection of the embroidery hoops featured on the Perfect Story sheet that I fussy cut- they're so cute and definitely one of my favourite things about this range. I cut both full and half-hoops, tucking the half-hoops under the photo and the base paper. I think the circles help break up the otherwise relatively angular layout.
I added some ink splatters, and some bits and pieces from my stash that matched the colours/theme.
As always, thanks for looking, and I will see you again later in the month.
Cheers,
Lisa :)
