Hi Everyone Lisahere! Welcome to my first DT post here at Artfull Crafts. What better way to start than with Kaisercraft's Hunt & Gather collection. This range is perfect for our current theme "Let's hear it for the boys". It can be difficult at times to create for the boys/men in your life, as there are not very many male themed papers available. Well not anymore, follow me on a journey of creating for the men in my life...sounds interesting, just one husband...lol & a Dad! This range is ideal for Birthdays, Fathers' Day or just because. I have made all of my featured projects using the fantastic 6 1/2 inch paper pads & some embellishments. First up I have made some cards, I have made a few different styles to show how versatile the range is, you can stick with the pale blues or use browns & black for a darker & warmer look. If you haven't already noticed little bits are my thing, so out comes the ribbon, string, pins & punches for those finishing touches. The black card, has a pocket on the front to hold a couple of tags for extra little notes, whilst adding a decorative touch.
For my second project, I decided to make a gift for my husband...it was his birthday last week. I have never really made him a gift before, as it's not really his kind of thing. However this range got me thinking, my husband is a real outdoors type. He loves camping & is involved with Scouts. (So opposite to me...) In 2009 my husband was given an award in Scouts for completing his Wood beads. So I decided to mark that special occasion by framing a picture of him being congratulated by his brother on receipt of this award. I used a small shadow box, with a glass frame that I've had in my stash for a while (Artfull Crafts currently stocks some similar shadow boxes & frames, you can find them in the shop). I painted the frame then applied Crackle. Again I used papers from the 6 1/2 inch paper pad. I layered embellishments using tags & cards from the 6 1/2 inch pad, leaves & string. I tied a reef knot in the string, used the compass die cut & a 'rub on' fleur de lis to tie in with the theme of Scouting. Some of the embellishing is on the mini layout under the glass & some is on the exterior of the frame, this creates dimension and helps bring all the elements together.
Thanks for taking the time to read this post & I hope I have given you some inspiration to make something for a male in your life. Remember even though craft may not appeal to them it's about linking it back to something that is important to them, what they are passionate about.
