Hello! Lisa here, and today I have a couple of creations made using Kaisercraft's Boho Dreams Collection to share with you. This is probably my favourite range from the past few months-- kind of hippy, kind of funky-- I love it. :)
First up is a layout using an older picture of my daughter which I thought fitted perfectly with the feel of the papers: she was dressed in faded blue denim, with a woven 70s-style headband and long, loose hair.
I used a sheet of plain white cardstock as my base, and then added some of the Wildpaper. I made use of both sides-- the floral pattern and the polka dots on the reverse as well, adding my photo to the centre to cover up the join. The phrase on the right is from the sticker sheet (I cut it up to fill the space better), and the clusters of feathers are fussy-cut from the Feathers sheet of paper. Some washi tape, a banner tag from the Collectables, and some touches of metal in the form of filagree trinkets from the Artfull Embellies finish the page off.
A closer look is below:
My second project using this range was a canvas. It's a different shape to what I usually work with: long and narrow, and I wanted it to be simple and striking. I started off by using 3D Gloss Gel to stencil a background design (using a Tim Holtz stencil.) The blue colour was a happy mistake-- the stencil had some traces of blue mica spray still on it from a previous use, and it transferred to the clear gloss gel and dried that lovely aquatic shade. I bet I couldn't recreate it again even if I tried!
Once the background had dried, I then added a selection of Collectables, rearranging them until I was happy with the composition before finally gluing them into place.
I added three little wooden beads to the edge of the "shine" collectable, and a variety of sizes of bling gemsscattered over the rest of the canvas.
And that's it-- done! I really like how it turned out, and the long, narrow shape was fun to work with for a change.
You can find the Boho Dreams Collection online here, and also instore now. As always, thanks for looking, and I will see you again soon.
Hi everyone. It has been awhile since I blogged. I have been creating lots but have been procrastinating about posting them. No more excuses. I made a page layout and a mini album in the form of a double tri-shutter card using this beautiful collection from Kaisercraft, Always and Forever.
I double backed the card to give it extra strength. I had a lot of small photos of my parents wedding and thought this would be a great way to keep them safer. I should have measured the photos prior to making the card as I found after it was made that it was a little to small for the photos. However I made it work and the paper just made this layout as it suited it so well.
I would like to make more of these double tri-shutter cards as mini albums and them make a box for them to all sit in. Project for another day I think.
I had some extra paper from this range left over so I decided to do a layout as well. I mixed some Lindy's Stamp Gang Magical 'Orange Creamsicle' with some texture paste to spread diamond shape on the page. Some didn't quiet work so I did a few random marks of the textured paste to cover them up.
I used the same magical to colour the varnish paper and fussy cut out the doilies.
My favourite is the flowers in the bottom and top corners. I also like the little diamantes I randomly placed around the flowers. I hope you like these 2 small projects and they give you some inspiration for your own creations. Keep safe and warm, till next time, Diane.
On our last trip to Aussie my boys had the honour of being promoted to Cabin Crew. They were suited up, badge in place and handed out sweets to other passengers. It was the cutest thing. I haven't printed the photos I took yet (it's on my to do list), but have got this little mini album all ready for them.
I am running very low on chipboard, so the pages were made using 3 plain white 4x6 greetings cards. I glued the cards closed, punched holes in the sides and held them together with book rings. If I was to make this style of album again, I would leave the tops of the pages unsealed. I could've had some rather fun pockets for extra photos. Oh well. I can always punch holes in photos and add them onto the rings as extra pages.
I added pockets to the 2 middle pages to hold photo mats and tags.
As always, the Just Landed collection comes with a set of collectables. I've always been a fan of Kaisercraft collectables. Just add a few die cut pieces to your project and your good to go.
You could totally customise this mini to add some blank sheets of paper for a fabulous travel diary. The beauty of using the book rings for binding is you can easily add pages, postcards, maps, tickets etc as you travel.
In March 2014, we took a road trip up the North Island towards the Bay of Islands. We took a scenic drive along the coast taking pictures as we drove - what a wonderful trip. Sadly I didn't write down the places we took photos - but I think this was Opua on the way to the Bay of Islands. The Kaisercraft Just Landed is a lovely range for travel photos:
The photos have been mounted on black and light blue card stock and the edges have been distressed. I used the papers Big City, Subway, Postmarks specialty paper from the range - and layered these behind the photos. I tore the specialty paper and rubbed on blue ink - the embossed specialty paper is perfect for this. Added the Collectables and embellishments to finish off the layout. I have rubbed some blue chalk around the edges of the layout for definition.
I love the black and white of this range edged off with the blue touches.
I started with this card, love this feather paper and decided to use it as the background on kraft card to showcase this birdhouse stamp. I used my copics to colour in the birdhouses. I used some of the kraft coloured collectables to embellish.
For this card I carried on the theme of birdhouses and used my dies to cut 3 out, to put in a row on this fence paper.
For this card I used my bigger MFT birdhouse die to use on my card. I framed it using the Kaisercraft Circle vines die (which I love!!!) and added a few rolled flowers at the bottom.
This card also used the Circle vines die as a frame for this Matilda image to sit in. I had to add in a little metal birdhouse to keep in with the theme of birdhouses!
So there you have it - my collection of Boho Dream Birdhouse cards!
Hi, Debi here, it's been a while but I'm back today with some quick cards I put together using the new Kaisercraft Boho Dreams collection. I love this collection, I know I think I might say that about every new release- but I really do like this one, its a little different a little quirky and pretty.
These cards were quick and super easy to make, i just used cardstock, patterned paper and the die cuts- a bit of ribbon and we are sorted. Got to love the Kaisercraft die cuts for making card super easy.
That's all from me today, see you next time.
Betsy on deck this morning to share some cards made with the stunning Mademoiselle Collection from Kaisercraft. Again, they have exceeded all expectations with this new range. I love the colours and the vintage feel.
Lately, I have been playing with some stunning new dies - Liz is in the process of securing this new product and will be having them at SENZ. I am really in my happy space when using these!! Sorry I am unable to give you the number of this die, as I left it in with Liz last week. It is a Sue Wilson die and it can be used two different ways. Lovely! The flowers are from Prima.
This is a super one! In the pack are seven dies, so there is certainly a number of various ways of using it. CED8101, Australian Collection, Background, again making a simple card but so effective I think you will agree. I have again used Mademoiselle Collection for the background paper under the die.
My third card today, using another Sue Wilson Die and the same collection as previously. CED6302, Configurations- Lattice Arched Adornment. There are certainly many ways of using this die, this is just one. The collection and the dies go so well together in my opinion!
Not long now until we are on our way North, so looking for ward to catching up with you all at SENZ. Thanks so much for stopping by, happy crafting and many blessings to all, until next time.
I recently added to my stash of Copic markers so was keen to put them to good use. I thought this Artfull Inkling -Miranda Mermaid, would be good coloured up to co-ordinate with the Mermaid Tales paper. I then layered her up on the paper and used the bits and pieces found at the back of the paper pad to embellish, as well as some twine and bling rhinestones!
I had to colour her again to put on this card!
For this card I coloured in the Artfull Inklings - Sailing Boat, to go on my card. I love the wave like paper and the fishes one! I used some more labels from the back of the pad to embellish and this time used some enamel dots rather than the blingy rhinestones! It means it could be used for a male recipient - I never have enough cards for males!
Hi everyone. Michelle Reeves was the lucky winner of our blog competition recently and she had a parcel delivered and the opportunity to create projects! She's certainly been busy!
Tell us about yourself:
My name is Michelle Reeves and I live in St Martins, Christchurch with
my husband Neville and daughter Chelsea. We all enjoy camping - well
camping for Chelsea as she is in a tent and has been since she was about
8 years old. Neville and I go 'glamping' as we have a 9.5 mtr
articulated camper (5th wheeler) - toilet, shower, kitchen and comfy
bed. Some of my best photos have been taken while we have been away,
usually at Lake Aviemore - no power, no internet or cell 'phones...what
more could one want! The camper is a work in progress as Neville has
built it from scratch and every good man must have at least one project
to keep him out of trouble!
Earthquakes and Crafting
I
bought Chelsea a new camera about 7 years ago and booked us both into
scrap booking classes so she could get more out of using it. We were
both hooked! After the 3 classes finished, we started going to crop
nights once a month on a Friday, 6pm to midnight. It was a great
environment to learn from others, stretch ourselves and meet a great
bunch of ladies. The last night we attended a crop night was 4.9.2010 -
we arrived home just after midnight and were then rudely woken at 4.35am
by the ground shaking quite violently. Although I have taken a lot of
photos since then, it has taken me until now to get back into my crafts.
After the February earthquakes, we remained in our home, but it was
seriously damaged. We moved out in March 2013, living in two different
rentals until we finally moved back into our new home July 2015. My
craft room is coming together and I mentally feel good about life, so
getting back into all sorts of projects!
My favourite style
I
enjoy scrap booking and creating layouts to show off my photos,
although a lot of my pages are plain with a few embellishments, etc as I
want the photos to be the main feature. Landscapes are my main work
environment, but occasionally friends and family pop up. I don't what my
inspiration is, but I love showing off photos in a different way. I
have done a lot with cards yet, but I really want to do more 'beyond
the page' work. I have a couple of projects to do and have been waiting
to settle in our house as there is one I want to start for our bedroom.
With winter coming I don't feel guilty spending time on my crafts!
The kit that Artfull Crafts sent me had these goodies inside and I tried to
restrict my page to the items in the kit, but I did end up using some
mini pegs for the bunting and a green ribbon rather than the pink as it
fitted my theme better.
My layout
I
had loads of fun with this layout. When I received the kit I knew
exactly what photos I was going to use. The photo's are of my daughter,
Chelsea, in the South T-shirt, and her very close friend, Georgia, in
the North t-shirt. Georgia is from Auckland and is like my second
daughter. The 2 girls met in 2008 at a Guide jamboree in Christchurch
and have been to 2 more jamboree's since then while in Guides and
Rangers. Thank goodness for cheap airfares as they see each other 2-3
times a year either here in Christchurch or in Auckland. Georgia's
parents were fantastic to Chelsea after the earthquakes, offering her a
place to chill out. They are now 20 and 19 respectively and are as close
as ever.
The main image is the girls
looking at a digital camera screen and were totally oblivious of me
taking their photo. In the smaller images they are wearing tie dyed
shirts created on one of our camping trips and picked up the colours in
the kit. I laid out the items with the photos and shuffled things
around, taking some off, putting them back, until I was happy. The
bunting was created using three of the smaller sheets of paper stock cut
into triangles and pegged to the string in the kit.
Favourite Projects
The
other layouts I have included were a lot of fun to create, especially
the one of my mum, her sisters and their mum. Again the papers, etc
jumped out at me as I looked through my stash and it was a very easy one
to complete. (I have had pages that just sit there and I had to really
work at the layout...they usually come together in the end!). It is
quite special as my grandmother and one of my aunts have passed away and
the page brings back a lot of memories.
The second page I have included
is of my husband and daughter at Lake Aviemore, opposite Cave Stream. I
picked the papers and embellishments for these photos as they epitomise
the colours of the area and the reason we are there! I have also
included a snapshot of my next project - can't wait to get into this
one! I'm envisaging blacks, silvers and a splash of red. I have some
really cool wee knobs to act as the hangars for my jewellery.
My stash
When
I first started scrapbooking I wasn't fussy and bought papers,
embellishments, etc that I liked the look of. I also used to buy the
occasional kit that came with all the pieces and a suggested layout.
This was another great way to learn what to out with what and things can
look. Now my stash is at a reasonable size I am a lot more selective
and my favourite brand would have to be Kaiser craft. I love the variety
of themes, colours with matching bits and pieces.
Techniques I use
I
feel I'm still a novice and learning techniques as I go, but one I
learnt a while ago still gives me a buzz - I don't use it often as I
keep it for that special layout. I tear the size paper I need and dampen
the edges, one at a time. Then using a piece of sandpaper I gently
rub/roughen the edges, also rolling up the edges a little. I can't
decide whether I love rub-ons or brads/eyelets the most - they are both
great in their own way and can make that ordinary looking page
absolutely pop!
This
year I hope to spend more time on my crafting and maybe try new
techniques/products such as glitters and washi tape.... and be more
adventurous.
For
anyone starting out I would highly recommend Midnight Madness (I knew
them as crop nights in Christchurch) as a way of meeting people,
learning techniques, but most of all, just have fun....you can't go
wrong because it is your layout! Thanks everyone for reading!
Hi everyone. Vonni here with another Design Team project.
Kaisercraft have some fun collections out at the moment and I have been lucky enough to have a play with them. Today, I am sharing a mini album that I created using Mermaid Tails.
The album is an accordion mini and measures 3" x 4". I have used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the album cover and gusseted pages. I'm not a huge fan of measuring and scoring. There are of course instructions on various websites if you would like to make it yourself without a cutting machine.
When you open the mini, the pages pop out so I tied a bit of twine around them to hold it all in place.
I matted each page in white cardstock & made my own pockets & tags for the pages. There is loads of room in this mini for recording special moments & adding mini photos.
I just love the colours in this collection. I've used papers from the 12x12 Paper Pack, which comes with a bonus sticker sheet, the 6x6 mini pad and elements from the gorgeous Collectables pack.
