Shirl - Princess Shianne - Sketch Layout

Hi Everyone

Yesterday we launched our new blog/challenge theme - "Birthdays and Blooms" and we also shared a sketch from Tanya Leigh with you to help inspire you to enter the challenge.

Our first Design Team layout using the sketch comes from Shirl - and isn't this just gorgeous.

Shirl has used the Magic Happens Collection from Kaisercraft along with some of their beautiful new Paper Blooms which come in 17 different colours.

This layout is just adorable, and a wonderful use of Tanya's sketch.

To enter the challenge - send a picture of your project to artfullcraftsdt@gmail.com You can send us as many entries as you like. We will be featuring entries and there will be a prize for the Challenge Winner!

Your entry to the challenge can be either along our theme of "Birthdays and Blooms" OR it can be using the sketch. (OR of course it can be both!)

Have a great evening :-)

Treasure these Memories ~ Shirl

Hi everyone,
Today I'd like to share a layout I've done using the new Kaisercraft "Love Notes" range.
I know these 'block' paper have been designed to use with the BTP Photo display frames, but I just looked at it and thought ...mmmm well there's no reason why it could'nt be used for a layout, so thats what I've done!

I kept it pretty simple as I wanted to use multiple photo's of my husband & I...we have made many great memories over the years...you might see 2 'wedding photo's of us on this layout, one is from when we did get married in 1997 and the other is when we re-newed our wedding vows on our 10th anniversary...
we re-created our wedding, we had the same celebrant, , went on the same boat, wore the same clothes...(that was a bit stressful, trying to fit back into my wedding dress after 2 kids!) I told Mick that I must really love him as I've married him twice!

Anyway Mick is the love of my life and always will be xx

Shianne's 1st day of school ` Shirl

Hi Everyone, yes my little baby cakes started school on Monday...I held back the tears...(but only just!!) I was like a crazy woman with my camera snapping away, she looked at me and said 'mum are you going now? and that was it, I walked away and left her there feeling a bit sad a bit weird and a bit excited!! I came home and loaded the photo's onto my PC and printed some out and thought umm... what the hey, I'll just go scrap them right now and I did!!

How lucky was I to already have the new Kasiercraft "Class of 87" range!! but I only have the paper not any matching elements..but I found there was lots of stuff on the paper to cut out, which is what I did! (Head to Artfull Crafts for the Full Collection in store now!)

I love how it turned out.... I love scrapping photo's the same day as I take them.....

P.S She really really loves school...WOOHOO more thime for scrapping!! YAY!!

Beyond LOVE ~ Shirl

Hi Everyone, I've got a couple of projects to share with you today!
The first one is the new BTP Kaisercraft Photo Display using the KC "After Five" Papers
These displays are very effective and they are very simple to do once I figured out the best way to to it!!
Firstly just paint the frame and the backing piece in the color of your choice, I just used plain black then when it was dry I sprayed it with glimmermist (it was a blacky silver color..sorry can't remember the name of it).

I found it was easier to cut all your piece then make sure they all fit in the holes where u want them...then embellish them to your hearts content!! THEN....glue the frame part to the back (I clamped mine to the desk) and when completely dry, then attach all your photo's & paper in, decorate the outer frame if u like.

The mini roses work beautifully on this as they are small enough be be in scale with the size of some of the holes in the display!
The other thing that is great is I only used one sheet of paper, all the new Kasiercraft paper ranges comes with a sheet of "blocked paper" so easy to cut them down but you may need to trim, them slightly to fit in the holes.
I've made this as a gift for some friends....I think they'll love it!

My next project is a bit outside the "Beyond Love" theme..... its a Layout of Keith Urban's new CD "Get Closer" which I absolutely "LOVE"....I'm a big fan and going to his concert here in Melb in April (can't wait)

I just used some plain cardstocks and a few scraps of Kasiercraft 'Shaken Not Stirred" I cut out the guitar on my cricut machine with I thought was pretty dang COOL!

I grunged it up a bit with ink..a few sprays of Glimmermist a bit of bling in clusters...then I made some "checker plate tin" I just covered a piece of cardstock with normal kitchen foil and ran it through my cuttlebug and swiped it with a black ink pad....I 'LOVE' it!!

I had a bit of a panic attack last night as we had 2 major storms we had water coming in the house everywhere, then I thought OMGosh!!! my scraproom I ran out into the rain (like a crazy woman!!!) to get to my room and thank goodness all was dry!
Might have a chance to get out into my scraproom a bit more from now on as next week as my little girl starts school on Monday..were both pretty excited about that!!
Have a good week everyone! Shirl :)

Kaisercraft Photo Display - Shirl

Hi Everyone,
I'd like to show you my latest project!
This is the new Kaisercraft Photo display with English Rose paper..(love it)
I'm very happy to have created such a beautiful keepsake of my beautiful Mum who I lost 15 years ago to pancreas cancer.

I think of her everyday and as the days go on I feel I'm starting to forget what she looked like, so now everyday I can look at this gorgeous display and remember her beautiful smile, and although she never got the chance to be a Gran to mine or my sisters children, they too can look at this and remember this beautiful lady, all 4 of her grandkids know that she is looking down and watching over them everyday with love xx

Christmas Favours - Shirl

Oh my goodness, only 14 sleeps till Christmas!!
hopefully you will like the ideas I have come up with for christmas favours...Every year I do a lot of baking for christmas gifts, Cakes, shortbread, slices & all sorts of things dipped in chocolate...YUM!
I've done a few little things for you..

I usually create little platters of yummy goodies, then wrap them in cellophane and lots of ribbon, they are nice little gifts to give to neighbours, teachers, family etc

It was very easy to make these little cakes and very easy to decorate them...I just cut a strip of paper and attched it at the back of the cake with a couple of pins to hold it into place, then attached a die cut with a rub-on christmas greeting on the front...I also cut out a star on my cricut machine and used the negative of the shape as a stencil, I just popped it on top of the cake and sprinkled some icing sugar over it..easy!

I made some little mini muffins and then cut out some cupcake wrappers on my cricut, (you can cut these out by hand, just do a google search for a cupcake wrapper template)
I had to fiddle with the size a bit! I took a couple of muffins out to my scrap room to get the size right, but then...mmm I ate them! so I had to come back in and get some more!! lol

and last of all, some yummy cupcakes..just a chocolate packet mix! then I  rolled out some soft icing, and using a scone cutter, cut out the circle then  placed it onto a cuttlebug embossing folder and gently pushed in down a bit, then glazed the top of the cupcake with some jam (to make the icing stick) and thats its!

So on that note I guess I better get baking again, crushing biscuts..melting choclate..etc...
Hope you like my ideas!
Don't forget to send your ideas in for the chance to win a prize pack!

Have a good weekend :)
