Jessica - Plain & Simple Cards

Hi everyone, Jessica T here today to give you some Christmas card inspiration for Plain and Simple cards week. I hope you have enjoyed the week so far, and have started thinking about making some cards of your own, and entering the challenge of course!

I made my cards using the North Pole collection from Kaisercraft. It is a wonderful collection, based on red, black, mint and aqua. Not exactly traditional colours, but still distinctly Christmas.

Plain and Simple cards are great to make for two main reasons: they are quick and inexpensive - which is especially helpful when you are wanting to make a whole lot of them.

My first card is made using light coloured cardstock as a base, a piece of black patterned paper, a piece of red patterned paper, and a pre-made tag that I embellished with rhinestones and attached using foam dots. How easy is that?

My second card is made using elements all cut from patterned paper - the sentiment, the gifts - and a strip of black paper. The sentiment and centre gift are attached with foam dots for dimension.

The first card is made by punching 1 inch circles from patterned paper, cutting them in half and attaching them in a pattern. The sentiment is added using foam dots. The second card is again just layers of papers with a sentiment and embellishment attached with, you guessed it, foam dots.

My last two to show you are again very quick and easy to make. The first is strips of patterned paper that have been attached to a piece of black paper, which is then attached to the cardstock base. The sentiment is attached with foam dots, as always. The second card is made using elements cut from patterned paper. Only one square is attached using foam dots and that is the sentiment.

Why use foam dots?

It helps give the card a focal point, and it is a really easy way of giving a card dimension, depth and detail all in one easy step.

Another tip is to stick to two or three main colours for each card. It keeps them clean.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have taken away some inspiration, and want to get started on your cards. You can find the North Pole collection here, and feel free to stop by my personal blog for a snapshot of all 21 cards I made using it.
