Hard to believe we are into the second month of the year already! But with a new month there is two new collections from Kaiser and today I am going to showcase a couple of projects I have created using the gorgeous Telegraph Road.
This collection has alot of muted colours in the red, pink, cream and green tones - simply stunning!
This first project is a simple layout using the Telegram paper as a base - I loved the intricate design on this paper so didn't really want to make my layout too busy. I layered a few pieces cut form other papers in the range and added some stitching. I also added a couple of the Collectables for use as a title and a possible journalling tag that slides in behind one of the papers.
And yes I had to whip up another envelope using my ever popular WRMK envelope punch board. I added to this a couple of cards cut from the Parcel paper, together with a bit of twine and some mini blooms. The card uses some Collectables layered ready for a message to be added.
So head on over to the shop and check out all the new ranges in store now!
Good morning, its Melissa here, I hope you had a lovely Waitangi Day yesterday. Summer has finally arrived here in Queenstown, which everyone is happy about! This month I get to create with the beautiful Telegraph Road, which is described as "the perfect mix of adult sophistication, bright playful colours and vintage throwbacks." It is such a lovely collection and it was so easy to make the following two layouts.
The first layout records our family memory of attending the Anzac Day parade in Arrowtown last year. I printed out these Instagram photos months ago, but struggled to find the right product to use to record them. Telegraph Road was perfect. I spread started with some gesso, and then used some watered down ink to run down the page, and finished my base with some spatters of Heidi Swapp Colour Shine. Next I sewed on the large piece of patterned paper, and then layered up the cut apart cards and die cuts.
For my second layout I wanted to feature as many of the patterned papers from the 6 x 6 paper pad as possible, so I tore them into strips and layered them up horizontally down my page. I sewed each strip down. The page came together really quickly after my base was made, with more gesso, ink splatters, and layering my photos over two doilies and some die cuts. I journalled on a tag, placed it on dimensional adhesive, and then added the two heart brads, and the die cut off the side. These are really old photos of my family when there were just three of us! The first photo is a selfie, as evident by the cutting off of our faces, but I just love it!
Thanks for looking. You can purchase the Telegraph Road collection in the shop here.
Well hello there! How is your week going? It's a short working week here in New Zealand, with Waitangi Day tomorrow. I love a short week!!!
Now, did you get to take a look at this month's Kaisercraft releases yet? Wow we have some great new things in to play with. Go take a look at the Telegraph Road, Hello Sunshine and Now Boarding ranges under the New Products section of the online shop, by clicking here.
I've been playing with the delicious Telegraph Road paper range, and some Bazzill Kraft cardstock. Hmm, what's in here? (look at those pretty colours)
Well lookie look, it's a mini-book! Oh dear, that IS corny, isn't it?!
I have created a mini-book as a record of a scrapbooking fundraiser that I was involved in a couple of years ago. With a little help from 80 other like-minded scrappy ladies, we raised just over $2,500.00 for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. So now I have a little reminder for myself of how it all played out, on the day.
Why the NZBCF? My Great Grandmother, Jessie Kearns. She died of breast cancer at a young age. Not to mention that a scary number of women in New Zealand in each year are affected by breast cancer. One in nine of us in our lifetime. I could go on....
Back to the scrapping... I hid some journalling behind a photo of my great grandparents, and used several small photos to complete my album. This is the only photo in the whole wide world of me QUILTING. Yep, I have only done it once, but I would like to have another go some day.
I imported my photos into Photoshop, and resized all my photos to the smaller sizes I needed. I then grouped several of them at a time on one 6x4" blank, and then printed them out. Sound a little foreign? I'll try and do a tutorial soon on some basic Photoshop techniques.
I had a lot of helpers on the day, including hubby Darryl, son Jacob and my Mum and Dad. Dad and Daz had the early morning job of inflating all the balloons with helium and attaching them to all the chairs.
We had a giant spread of morning tea - sandwiches, sweets, cakes and cupcakes, yum yum yum! The quilt I made was assembled from donated fabrics, in all different shades of pink. I had a lot of help from Linda at the Timaru Sewing Centre, which was invaluable given my (lack of) previous sewing experience. It was the most popular of all the raffles by far, eventually going to a local woman who had been undergoing breast cancer treatment. Perfect.
During the event, I ran random pop-quizzes and face-the-music quizzes, to give out spot prizes. Jacob was only 8 at the time, and he was my prize runner on the day, as well as my scrappers-rubbish-bin-emptier and raffle-ticket-seller at times too. He did an ace job.
And that about sums it up - a successful day once again. Thanks for taking the time to share my memories with me today. Make sure you pop into the shop and grab yourself some of these lovely papers and embellishments to play with, before they're all snapped up!
That's it from me, I'll be back on the 20th, so I'll see y'all then (unless I see you in the shop first, of course!)
Hello again!Lisahere with a couple of projects I've made using the lovely Now Boarding range from Kaisercraft. It's a fabulous travel-themed range, perfect for all those summer holiday snaps and/or winter getaway photographs. :)
The first thing I've made is a mini-album featuring some pictures from a family holiday we took at Kokopu Cottage in Akaroa-- a gorgeous place that I can most definitely recommend if you're after a break away from the rest of the world-- no tv or phone, but plenty of blue skies, greenery & peace & quiet. Absolutely blissful. :)
I handmade the front & back covers of the mini album from cardstock, cut down into 6x6 size, & then covered with some of the papers from the range: Boarding Pass (on the front cover) & Cabin Crew (on the back cover, not visible here.) Around the edges of each cover, I used travel-themed washi tape for a bit of contrast. :) The front cover is decorated with a quote from the Sail paper, & some of the stickers from the speciality sheet.
On the inside of both the front & back covers, I used some of the Ephemera paper as a half-pocket to slip travel memoribilia in: ticket stubs, tags tied together with baker's twine, maps, brochures-- all those little bits & pieces that seem to accumulate whilst travelling. (at least if you're me, that is!)
The pages inside are decorated with photos from our trip, along with tags, stickers & Collectables from the range. Everything is in lovely neutral colours, so will blend with pretty much anything which I love. :) The album itself is held together with a single bookring in the corner, so it's very simple to add more pages if needed or wanted. I really like the idea of adding more holiday snaps throughout the year, ending up with a nice chunky book of memories to have on hand forever. :)
The second project I made with this range is a layout-- in circle form, which is something I hadn't tried before. :) I've got plenty of round format photos, thanks to my instagram obsession, so it was fun combining them with the Compass paper.
As layouts go, it's pretty simple & features a few of my current favourite things: circles, arrows & hand-drawn elements. While not of exotic locations, the photos I've used are all somewhat travel-related: the open road, wide open skies, local country lanes, & the main street here in Timaru as well. :) As nice as it is to go somewhere new, sometimes there really is no place quite like home, right?
And that is it for today! I hope that you are all having a great summer, & have been happily creating masterpieces of your own. :) Don't forget about this month's challenge theme: Summer & Sunshine! There are plenty of great prizes to be won, so why not give it a try?
As always, thanks for looking, & have a wonderful day!
