Kaisercraft POP projects - Beverley

Hi everyone Beverley here to share some Kaisercraft POP projects. As previously stated this is a great collection for birthday layouts and other projects. Today I am sharing a girly Birthday layout and some simple Birthday party invites.

First up  a layout using papers and stickers from the Pop Collection on a white background which has been misted with a Prima Candy floss bloom spray. I have then added enamel dots, Maggie Holmes bows and flowers to finish the layout.

Next up I created three simple party invites using the scraps from other projects, POP stickers and alphabet stickers. Alphabet Stamps or diecut alphabets could also be used.

That's all from me today hope you all have a great weekend and get some crafty time! Auckland is having a bit of rain today so good excuse for some crafty time!

Christine B - Too Cool For School

Hi there, Christine B here, today I have something a bit different to share with you. Using Kaisercraft's Too Cool For School. I have covered a file folder case with it for my great niece who is starting school soon.....

All those bits and pieces that come home from school that need to be kept can be put in the compartment for that year, so that by the time her school days are over she will have some interesting memorabilia!

I have also put together a couple of pages to give to her Mum to add photos of the first day/week at school.....

Melissa - Kaisercraft XO Mini Album

Good morning, it's Melissa here and I'm back today with another project I made with the beautiful Kaisercraft XO collection, which you can purchase from the shop here.

I decided to make a mini album with the cut apart journaling cards, and I included recent photos of our family, and some scripture about love.  I made the cover very simple and minimalistic, with white cardstock which I embossed, and then used two manual dies (through my Cuttlebug).  I used my sewing machine to add texture, and glued the ribbon onto the back of the album.

Here is the cover with the ribbon untied.

I prepared the album before I'd printed off my photos, which is a new process for me, as usually I like to have everything ready to go, especially the photos.  Here are some close ups of some of the inside pages.  You will see that I bound my pages with washi tape.

I've just started making process videos, and you can watch how this mini album came together here on YouTube, or below:

Thanks for looking, and see you in February :)

Lisa - Off The Wall

Hi there! I hope your week has been going well, and that all the last minute back-to-school tasks haven't left you too frazzled. My daughter is about to turn 18 and has finished with school for now, so I haven't had to do the usual buying of books and stationery, which actually feels kind of weird! Everytime I see the ads on tv for back to school things, I think, "oh, I must get that done!" and then I remember....nope, not this year. The upside is no searching stationery lists for that elusive item that is always out of stock (because there's always one, right?) but the downside is not getting the chance to pop a few little extra goodies in the stash for myself. :)

ANYWAY. I digress. I'm here today to share a couple of layouts made with a slightly older Kaisercraft range-- Off The Wall. This was released at the tail-end of last year (November, I think) and I suspect it got a little lost amongst all the Christmas creations. So, here it is now, making its slightly belated appearance. :) It was marketed as a range suitable for boy/male layouts (which it is) but of course I took that as a challenge to see if I could use it to showcase the exact opposite.

My first layout uses the Attitude sheet as a background-- it has lovely weathered blue boards on it, which put me in mind of summertime and the beach, making it perfect for this photograph of my daughter at Patiti Point. Layered behind the photo is a sheet of older Prima paper, along with square "tiles" cut from another patterned sheet from my stash, the name and brand of which completely escapes me at this point-- sorry! (One day I will be organised and keep track of what I'm using-- today, however, is not that day.) It is, however, from the shop, so you may still be able to find it amongst the myriad of fabulous designs instore.

Around the edges, I have layered some Collectables, paper flowers, some bling, and finished off with a strip of floral washi along the bottom. A simple, summery layout made with a supposed "boy" range. :D

The second layout starts with a base of chocolate brown cardstock which I stencilled with texture paste, then sprayed with Glimmer Mist, before attaching my photo on top once it was dry. (A heat gun helps speed up this process.)  I've made uses some of the patterned sheets in the range-- specifically the Rad and Wicked designs. I hand-tore strips from those sheets and layered them under my photo, then added various embellishments including a dotted border from the paper pad, as well as vellum pieces, floral diecuts and gold foil accents from my stash.

A closer shot is below:

And that's it: two "girly" layouts made from a boy-themed range. Sometimes it's fun to mix things up!

The Off The Wall range can be found here. As always, thanks so much for looking, and I'll see you again next month. :)

Cheers,
 Lisa

Megan - Blue Bay

Hello again :)

My favourite colour is blue.  I love all things heritage, history, and antiques.  So Blue Bay? Right up my alley :) :)

Mixed media might be all the rage at the moment but its not one of my favourite techniques to use.  Maybe cos its messy!  I hate messy lol.  BUT, I do like creating backgrounds in my own clean and a bit anal way ;)  For this layout I went back to an old technique that I learnt when I first started card making back in the early 2000's.  I took my favourite Artsy stamp and stamped it randomly with Versamark ink and then blended two different Pearlex powders into my image, before doing more random stamping with black ink.  Tearing sections of the paper, and then inking them added to the distressed look of the background paper.

The many layers that make up this layout, start out with three sheets from the paper pad.  Multiple layers of embellishments bring it all together - I used a mixture of collectables, and Prima metal embellishments from my stash, and to make it look dimensional and not completely flat some items are layered with foam.

This collection is fast becoming a favourite for me - I love how its obviously great for heritage style layouts but is easily adapted to suit a modern day photo :)

Thanks for popping by!

Christine S. - 2 Cool 4 School

Good day! Christine S. here with a few projects using the 2 Cool 4 School collection.  This collection is colorful & filled with bright primary colors...very eye catching stuff.  It's excellent for documenting school classes/activities/events/achievements/art/projects/etc.  I've created a layout, card & a tag which has a variety of subjects that shows the possibilities of this range.  Let's start off with a layout titled "Color, Doodle, Trace, Repeat".  This documents my 21 month old daughter (she was 18 months on these photos) loving this activity, & it occupies her for ages.  It's quite nice & enjoyable watching her do it as she babbles along...already multitasking at this early age.

To create this layout, apply some black gesso with a Heart stencil on the Art paper.  Once dry, apply some red chalk ink with the 6x6 Doily template.  You can use a foam applicator, dauber or your fingers to apply it.  Cut off a small part of the paper at the top left, curling it a bit, & then adhere a small piece of the Science paper.

Next, fussy cut some pencil ends (you can cut as much or as little as you want) from the English paper, then glue them on the Art paper.  I adhered a pencil end with some foam adhesive.  Then layer the photos, collectables, sticker & some scrap paper.  Finish it all off by adding the title & journaling strips.

The title says it all...so perfect for this range I reckon.  What else can we create out of this range that has nothing to do with school/arts/coloring/etc? How about a baby card?

To create this card, get some yellow cardstock for the base, than attach the Science paper.  Punch both paper with a corner rounder only at the bottom part.  Apply texture paste using the Bubbles template & let dry.  Stamp the Arty texture stamp randomly, achieving a cascading look, using a black/charcoal ink pad.

Layer the collectables, fussy cut pencil & sticker in the middle, then adhere a tied grosgrain ribbon.  Attach a red brad in the middle of the bow.  Adhere the baby blocks die cut with foam adhesive, & finish it off with by adding some stars & your title/sentiment.  Isn't this collection perfect for making baby & children's birthday & occasional cards/invitations, both for boys & girls alike!

Now, it's time to go to the other end of the color spectrum...no loud primary colors in this tag.  I made it for my sister in law who loves to read & I thought she'd like something pretty to mark a page (if you're reading this post, it'll come your way very soon :)).

You'll need the Social Studies paper for this tag.  Looking at the books, trim the part & size that you like.  Cut out 4 small books from the remaining paper, & another small strip that shows some words & definitions on it.  Cut out some words from the bottom strip (don't throw them away!), adhere them on kraft or dark brown cardstock to frame the words, & set them aside.  Layer all the books & strip of paper, making sure to adhere them well. I find that tacky/Helmar450 glue works best if you're into messy play.

Now for the fun part!  Choose a stencil, apply some gel medium & let dry.  I used my Kaisercraft's Lattice template for this & applied the gel at the lower right side.  Grab a red wine colored glimmer mist (I used Berry Rose from Tattered Angels) & spray it on the tag, concentrating the color where the gel has dried.  Water it down if you find the color too dark.  Speed up the drying process with a heat gun (It currently has a discount at the shop, yay!).  Now, choose a graphic stamp & a texture stamp.  Stamp the graphic image first on the misted area with black/staz on ink pad.  I used Kaiser's Charlotte's Dream stamp set for this.  Then stamp your texture stamp (I used Kaiser's Flutter stamp) with a distress ink pad randomly...don't overthink it! Adhere the strip words around the stamped image.  Punch a hole on top, then tie a bow with a long piece of string/wax cord.  Curl the strands with scissors.  Finish it all off with a couple of sparklets & a button.

This tag is definitely not for the kids, & I love it! I hope this post has inspired you & leave a comment if you've got any questions.  Do check out the collection here.  Have a great week!

Melissa - Too Cool for School Layouts

Good morning, its Melissa here, and it's almost back to school time for my kids, with two more teacher only days on Monday and Tuesday, and school starting on Wednesday.  My husband is a teacher, and school started back for him on Friday.

This all means it perfect timing to show you two layouts I created with Kaisercraft's new Too Cool for School collection, which you can find in the shop here.

For my first layout I wanted to use the realistic chalkboard background and scrap a large photo of my 5 year old daughter on her first day of school last July.  Our school is so awesome, they take a photo of the kids of their first days, and give a large print to the parents.  The only photos I had of my daughter were of her looking unhappy and emotional, so it was such a blessing to get this lovely photo of her smiling.

I kept my layout really simple, made the most of the background paper, then just added some stickers, collectables and washi tape from my stash.

The pencil collectable die cut "Great Day" works perfectly as my title.

I cut the "today"banner from one of the journalling cards.

The ruler is from the sticker sheet, and I just layered it under my photo, with some washi tape on top. The scalloped border is cut from one of the patterned papers with my border punch.

My second layout is a mixed media page where I created my own background by cutting apart one of the papers, gluing the strips down randomly, adding some punched stars, and then covering the whole page with gesso.  Next I added some water colours, my photos in a row, and then just added stickers and collectable die cuts (much like the previous page).

The page is about my son who won a special award at school in 2013.  The blurry photo in the middle is the only photo we have, which was taken with an iPhone.  I took the two photos of the award with my DSLR, just before we had to give the trophy back.  So whilst the photo in the middle isn't great quality, the story needs to be recorded in Sam's album.

And here are some close ups:

Thanks for looking, and I hope you're enjoying our hot Summer!

Lisa - XO layouts

Good morning! :) I hope your Saturday has started off well, and that you have a nice, relaxing weekend planned. Maybe some crafting? It's always a good time to make stuff, right?

Lisa here once more, and this time I have a couple of pages to show you that I've made using Kaisercraft's sweet XO collection. Hearts, roses, kisses and plenty of pink and red feature in this one-- perfect for Valentine cards and layouts.

On my first layout, I'm pretty sure I've managed to use almost every patterned paper in the range, without it being too overwhelming. I did this by punching out squares from the assorted sheets, and then cutting them in half on the diagonal before piecing them back together again in a random quilt design either side of my central photograph. The patterns may be diverse, but they're linked by similar colours and themes, so they go together perfectly.

On top of the paper quilt on the left, I've adhered a little floral wreath from the Collectables, and highlighted some of the flowers with some pale pink bling dots. I cut borders from the 12x12 sheets and used these at both the top and bottom of the layout, along with a few more Collectables.

The second layout has the main photo (some silly selfies of me and my husband taken on our 25th wedding anniversary) on the left, and a quote cut from the Deeply sheet on the right. A hand-torn strip from the True Love sheet anchors those elements along the bottom, and I've then layered a few Collectables, some washi tape and a wood veneer heart on top. The roses on the top right are from Crate Paper, and the black woodgrain-patterned heart is hand-stamped.

This was a lovely range to work with, and there is currently 20% off the full XO collection instore, so be sure to check it out!

As always, thanks so much for looking, and enjoy the rest of your weekend. I'll see you again soon!

Cheers,
 Lisa :)

Megan - POP! layout

Hi Everyone :)

Today I wanted to share with you a layout I created of one of my friends wee boys - isn't he just the cutest on his wee tractor ;)

Ive used Kaisercrafts POP! collection.  Not really something I would usually go for but the bright colours appealed - usually Im more of a traditional heritage chick ;)  - so this was a bit of a challenge for me!
I decided to give myself a bit more of a challenge to use the collection but not in the way it was meant for - its ideally suited for birthdays and celebrations, I just wanted to do a colourful layout capturing this cool wee dude :)

Ive backed my layout with BoBunny chevron double dot as my base and then used the reverse of  original double dot on top - its plain on this side as opposed to polka dotted on the other.  You can find the chevron double in an awesome range of colours in the shop here.

I used a selection of stickers as my embellishments and doodled around the edges to help them 'pop' out of the page, and help tie all the different elements together.

To create my background Ive randomly stamped two different Kaisercraft stamps - Arty and Sketchy.  The stitched look on the grey double dot and aqua paper are BoBunny Stitches stamp.
The chipboard Ive used is from my own stash, and I wanted to cover the negative space with different colours so I took the Balloons paper and traced the stars around some of them to get the colours I wanted.

Thanks for popping by :)

A double dose of Blue Bay by Bev

Hi everyone Bev here - hope you are all enjoying the gorgeous summer weather we are having! Talking about summer the Blue Bay collection by Kaisercraft would be a great collection for both your winter and summer photos as well as shabby chic layouts or projects.

Today I am sharing two layouts that I have created using the Blue Bay Collection. My first layout utilises the Lagoon paper that has phrases on it. A simple layout to create by adding some flowers, brads, a tag, a bit of bling, a piece of lace and a title. The background paper is Sapphire Paper.

The second layout I created was started with a Prima Mask and texture paste.  This was then followed by spraying silver, seafoam and navy Colour Shine Sprays from Heidi Swapp. I also splattered a bit of the sprays as well.  I then I layered papers and collectables from the Blue Bay collection along with my photo. The layout was then finished off with flowers, bling and a title.

Have a great week and thanks for visiting the blog today!

Lisa - Pop layout

Good morning! Lisa here, with a couple more layouts to share with you. :)

The first one is made with Kaisercraft's Pop collection, which is super-bright and perfect for all things party-related: invitations, cards, banners, decorations, and bunting-- you get the idea. Of course, me being the contrary lass I am (ahem), I decided to see if I could use it for something totally unrelated to all of the above! Below is what I came up with. :)

It's a layout featuring a favourite shot of my husband, which just so happens to be in black & white. I thought it provided the perfect contrast to all the vibrancy in the Pop range, and also helped it stand out, despite being surrounded by a rainbow of colours.

I punched out squares from a selection of the papers in the collection, also punching out my photo the same size. I arranged them in a grid pattern, using two of the grid spaces to add a couple of embellishments to break up the page a little (the vellum heart envelope - from the Pebbles range-- and the pink camera.) I added a couple of other embellishments on top of another couple of squares, as well as a little wooden veneer heart on the photo. (I coloured it with some Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Stain.) A strip of silver glitter washi along the bottom of the layout finishes it all off. :)

My second layout was made using the Blue Bay range, which I've already blogged about here-- but somehow this layout went astray. However, I've found it again, so here it is. :)

I used the Sea Breeze sheet as a base, then popped a photo of my daughter behind one of the lovely ornate frames from the Collectables, and layered that on top. The quote is also from the Collectables, and most of the other embellishments are from a Project Life mini kit. A wood veneer crown, some washi tape, and a scalloped border from the Blue Bay paper pad, and that's it done! :)

A closer shot is below:

As always, thanks for looking, and I'll see you again later in the month. Enjoy the sunshine! :)

Cheers,
 Lisa
